SOCIAL is a 6-week program developed by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital's Center for Aging and Serious Illness (CASI)  and Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research (CHOIR). This study utilizes the mindfulness and self compassionate care program (MASC) to help caregivers of individuals with dementia navigate daily challenges and decrease stress. Caring for a person with dementia is hard but SOCIAL can help!

Over the course of this 6-week program caregivers will learn how to:

  1. Quickly identify and/or anticipate their own stress triggers and your loved ones' with compassion.

  2. Use mindfulness to regulate their emotions and act with awareness.

  3. Use appropriate behavioral management skills to successfully deal with stress triggers or avoid them.

  4. Learn and practice self-compassion and compassion towards themselves and others.
